solil Please introduce yourself.
We are Soliloquium, a death/doom metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. It is me, Stefan, on guitars and vocals. The band also features Jonas, my bandmate from Desolator and Ending Quest, on bass.

When your band was created?
Soliloquium originally started as a side project in 2011, since we were only playing regular death metal at the time.

What the style do you play?
We play melodic death/doom metal with a progressive touch. The sound branches out more and more with every release, both in terms of extremity and mellowness. Katatonia is an undeniable influence, as in all music in this style.

How could you describe your music by several words?
Personal, bleak, nostalgic, pessimistic and a bit angsty.

What is the main theme of your lyrics?
It’s basically a diary of uncut personal experiences and reflections. I am talking to no one, hence the name Soliloquium. They might be a bit harder to grasp than usual death/doom lyrics, as they are my way of releasing a lot of negative stuff without any particular thought of the receiver.

What would you like to achieve with the band activity?
We want to keep releasing albums, and improve our songwriting craft. Becoming a big death/doom band in the process could be a cool bonus, so a record deal with a death/doom focused label would be great to get our music properly promoted.

How many gigs you have played so far and maybe you visit another countries with concerts?
We don’t play live, and we really don’t have any plans to. Death/doom is rarely the best genre to perform in concert, therefore we do it with our regular death metal bands instead.

Is there anything very important about your band what SHOULD know fans and labels?
We are a small underground and we need to all the support we can get, online and offline. If you like our music: Review it, interview us, share it, subscribe, talk about death/doom metal at your local rock bar. Whatever the method, we need it!

What the formats you would like to see your releases, CD, Vinyl, Tape…? And how do you see future of physical releases?
All formats are cool, but getting our coming full lengths out on CD via a label is a start. We’re definitely looking to score a deal with labels like Solitude Productions, Hypnotic Dirge Records or Rain Without End Records, to assure that we get proper promotion for our music style.

When you will get label deal, would you like to help to the label with promotion from your side, or you want label do all without your help?
I enjoy digital promotion and discussion way too much to not get involved. The dream solution would be a label that would be active alongside my own efforts.

What’s your reaction towards negative opinions about your music?
As long as it’s constructive, I don’t care at all. Even negative reviews can spread the band name, and lead people with other opinions to check out the music.

And last question, how do you like our webzine, do you have some remarks towards its look or functionality?
The zine looks nice, and I like that the website is responsive. Many metal publications on the web have really bad web solutions that aren’t. Your effort to give some help to underground bands with the Unsigned Bands section is great!
